Marks and Spencers

I took part in a competition within my course at Ravensbourne to create a new piece of packaging design for Marks and Spencers. I focused on bacon packaging and looked at the natural curve that happens to bacon when it’s cooked. I also wanted to solve the problem of drainage within the packaging. In the past material has been used to help absorb liquid from the bacon. Ridges and patterns in the underside has also been used to hid the liquid from the customer. I thought of a few different ways of changing this and have included images below. The first idea is to have ‘Marks & spencers’ logo at the bottom of the pack which like the ridges previously used would leave an imprint on the bottom and the last piece would become a branded piece of bacon.
The second design was to take the natural curve of bacon when its cooked which is what makes people want bacon and not the raw state when you buy it in the shops. I also experimented with using bagasse ( a pulp) instead of using plastic to provide a more eco-friendly material to help with Marks and Spencers PlanB approach.
